How Solar Pool Heating Works

Solar collectors are typically mounted on your roof but can be mounted on a ground rack. The collectors need to be installed where they can be in the sun a good portion of the day, usually facing south. East and west facing systems can function equally as well depending on the angle of the mounting surface.

Using the pool pump, water is circulated through the hundreds of specially designed channels in the solar collectors. Pool water is heated inside the solar collectors and returned to the pool through your existing piping.

Does this cause any wear and tear to your roof? No. Strategically placed slots in the webbing of the collectors prevent moisture buildup under the collector to preserve the life of the roof. These same slots allow pressure relief during high winds so you can expect your system to still be working after the storm has passed.
