Serving the solar energy community of North Carolina since 1994

Heritage Middle School
Wake Forest, North Carolina

Honey Electric Solar installed a 500 gallon solar water heating system on a roof of the Heritage Middle School to provide the primary hot water needs of the cafeteria. Data from the system is sent to the main entrance where it is displayed in the same demonstration panel as the rainwater collection system.

A 2.5 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system, also installed by Honey Electric Solar, is located on the bus drop-off canopy. The solar panels are highly visible and can be seen from below as students walk under the canopy to enter the building. The panels are semi-transparent so students can see the construction to assist in the study of photovoltaic technology.
