About Honey Electric Solar Honey Electric Solar, Inc. was founded in 1994 and is the premier dealer/installer of residential and commercial solar electric (photovoltaic), solar water heating and solar swimming pool heating systems in North Carolina. We only install products of the highest quality that are available now in the market. We don’t use anything that is experimental, questionable or gadgetry. We are also a SunPower Authorized Dealer. We aim for your system to last for many years, and for it to be mostly maintenance-free. Our work is clean and finished. We flush-mount panels and use professional-looking parts. We personally service what we install and in most cases have been dealing with the same manufacturers for over 20 years.
Tom began Honey Electric Solar in 1994 to specialize in professional solar energy installations. As a US Navy veteran, whose training was primarily electrical engineering, running a solar energy company has been a challenging and rewarding experience. Since starting the company, he has repaired many “old solar” systems that inspired him to adopt the Keep It Simple... (KISS) principles for Honey Electric Solar’s design and install practices. With hundreds of operating solar electric (PV) and solar water heating systems throughout North Carolina, this philosophy has proven successful. Daily responsibilities include maintaining outstanding customer service, managing and training the sales team and installers, and ensuring continued high-quality, professional installations. Tom holds electrical contracting licenses in North Carolina and Virginia. He is qualified as an Unlimited NC Electrical Contractor and a VA Master Electrician. In 2009, Tom achieved the NABCEP PV installer’s
